How to Fix the “Invalid Code” Error in Google Authenticator on Coinlocally

Introduction

This article explains why you may see an “Invalid Code” error when entering your Google Authenticator (2FA) code on Coinlocally. Since 2FA codes are time‑sensitive, even a small time mismatch between your device and Google Authenticator can cause verification failures.

Steps to fix the “Invalid Code” error

1. Make sure you’re entering the correct 2FA code

If you have multiple accounts in Google Authenticator, ensure you are using the Coinlocally entry that matches your registered email or phone number.

2. Set your device time to automatic

Google Authenticator relies on your device’s internal clock. If the time is incorrect, the generated codes will not match Coinlocally’s server.

For Android:
  • Open Settings
  • Go to Date & Time
  • Enable Set time automatically
  • Enable Set time zone automatically
For iOS:
  • Open Settings
  • Go to General → Date & Time
  • Enable Set Automatically
  • Ensure Location Services are enabled for time zone detection:

Settings → Privacy → Location Services → System Services → Setting Time Zone

After enabling automatic time, restart your device and try entering the code again.

3. Refresh your Google Authenticator entry

If you saved your Recovery Key Phrase, you can remove and re‑add the Coinlocally entry to refresh the code.

4. Reset your Google Authenticator

If none of the above steps work, you may need to reset your Coinlocally 2FA using the official reset link on the platform.

Additional notes

  • 2FA codes refresh every 30 seconds — enter them before they expire.
  • Avoid switching between devices while entering codes.
  • Ensure your phone has a stable internet connection when syncing time.

Common issues

  • Device time not set to automatic
  • Entering the wrong 2FA entry
  • Outdated iOS/Android version
  • Missing recovery key preventing refresh
  • Reset not completed due to incomplete verification
